So apparently I’m a sexist?

Now I could go on and on about how she is nothing but a plot device, but my friend comradecourt did a pretty good job of doing that. You can view her essay here.

And before I get angry anons, I am in no way hating on the people who like Sharon. I’m hating on Sharon herself.

Yes, it’s sexist to hate on a female character (who is fictional and has no existence of her own!) for not being what you want her to be, instead of talking about the way in which she’s written by largely male writers.  The fact that you agree with a post that says that Sharon “gives men a reason to be sexist” says it all.  Some of Sharon’s weaker storylines may be the result of conscious or unconscious sexism on the part of WRITERS.  Hating the character is misplaced, sexist aggression.  And the secret-maker is right — Steve Rogers would not approve.
